Zine Workshop

Ever wanted to make your own magazine? Zines are self-published magazines with a history of rebellion, resistance, and self-expression. Join us for an evening of creativity, collaboration, and experimentation with DIY methods. We’ll learn about the powerful history of zine-making, and use a mix of drawing, writing, and collage to create your own self-published art to share with the world. All materials are provided. For creatives of all skill levels.

Intro to Wheel Throwing Workshop (New)

Satisfy your curiosity for clay with our Intro to Wheel throwing workshop! In this 2.5 hour beginner pottery workshop you’ll learn the basics of centring, throwing and shaping the clay to create your own bowl. You’ll pick your glaze and our talented instructor will carry out the final steps of trimming, glazing and firing. When you return your finished masterpiece will be ready to pick up. All materials will be provided. For beginner students.

Cyanotype Workshop

Create some brilliantly beautiful blue sun prints using ultraviolet rays! Learn all about this fascinating camera-less photography technique and how to use it to make your own artwork. Participants will explore plants and textures gathered from the VAC garden to create striking silhouettes, and will incorporate simple line drawings for layered effects. All materials provided. For beginner and intermediate students.

Punch Needle Workshop

During this crafternoon together, you’ll be making a 5" punch needle coaster. You can either bring your own design idea or choose from some fun, ready-made patterns that I’ll have on hand. Since we have 3 hours together, it’s super helpful if you come with a saved image or idea in mind — that way we can get right into the best parts: choosing colours and punching! All materials provided. For students of all skill levels.

Soap Felting Workshop 

Sunday, May 24, 2026 | 10:30am to 1:30pm

$50 per person

Soap felting is a delightful craft that merges the beauty of wool with the practicality of soap to create colourful and textured bars. This tactile activity not only allows for creativity in design but also results in unique, handmade items that make perfect gifts or charming additions to your home decor. In this 3 hour workshop, participants will learn the techniques of wet felting and needle felting to felt 2 bars of soap. Ivory soap will be used in this workshop, if you have any allergies or sensitivities please email education@vac.ca for more information. We will be working with water, so be prepared to get your sleeves a little wet. For students of all skill levels. All materials are provided.
