The VAC is searching for a compassionate and skilled Inclusion Support Leader to join our team at our 2026 Summer Art Camp. The candidate will play a crucial role in creating an inclusive and supportive environment for campers aged 5-12, focusing on those who are neurodivergent and/or have additional support needs. The candidate will have a deep understanding of ECE principles, engagement strategies, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and creative environment for all children.


Candidates should be pursuing post-secondary education in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Studies, or a Bachelor of Education, or a related field, and returning to full-time studies in the Fall. Ideal candidates will have experience working with children, particularly those who are neurodivergent and/or have additional support needs. Knowledge of studio materials, fine art education, First Aid Training, and a Valid Driver's License are also assets.

Description of Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement art-focused activities that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring inclusivity for children who are neurodivergent and/or require additional support needs.

  • Collaborate with the Education Coordinator, Creative Programs Facilitator, and Camp Counsellors to adapt activities to individual requirements and create a supportive and engaging atmosphere for all participants.

  • Provide one-on-one assistance and support to children who are neurodivergent and/or require additional support needs, facilitating their participation in all camp activities.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment by employing ECE best practices and creating personalized strategies for individual campers.

  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of all camp participants, with extra attention paid to children with additional support needs.

  • Implement and adhere to health and safety protocols, making necessary accommodations as required.

  • Work closely with the Education Coordinator, Creative Programs Facilitator, and Camp Counsellors to share insights and strategies for supporting neurodivergent children and/or require additional support needs.

  • Communicate effectively with VAC staff, parents and guardians, ensuring a collaborative and informed approach to each child's unique needs.

  • Utilize art materials as a tool to foster self-expression and emotional well-being in children who are neurodivergent and/or require additional support needs.

  • Offer guidance and support to all campers, promoting their creative development in a nurturing and understanding manner.

  • Stay up-to-date on the latest ECE and inclusive education practices.

Candidate Profile:

  • Currently enrolled in Early Childhood Education, Child and Youth Studies, a Bachelor of Education, or a related field. Returning to full-time studies in the Fall.

  • Experience working with children, particularly those who are neurodivergent and/or require additional support needs, in an educational or camp setting.

  • Understanding of inclusive education practices and creative strategies for engaging children with additional learning needs.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Camp and VAC staff.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Ability to understand educational objectives and lead a team to deliver high-quality experiences.

  • Ability to work all 13 weeks (mandatory).

  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check

An individual may be eligible for employment if they:

  • Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);

  • Are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);

  • Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment 

  • Are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and

  • Are a high school, college, CEGEP or university student.

Note: Priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in the YCWHO employment program.
