Frequently Asked Questions
If you have questions or concerns that aren’t addressed below, please feel free to contact the VAC at education@vac.ca. More detailed information about camps will be sent to registered families a week prior to the first day of camp.
I see that you do online registrations. Can I register in person or over the phone?
While we prefer online registrations, we do accept in-person (VISA and Mastercard) and phone registrations (VISA and Mastercard). Registration requires creating an online Amilia account, which we can set up on your behalf. This process takes approximately 10 - 15 minutes, so please make sure to leave the necessary time so that we can get all the needed information.
What if I have a child that is outside the age range, can they still join?
All of our camps and the programs are designed specifically for children within the designated ages. In order to ensure the best experience for everyone, participants must fall within the indicated age range of 6-12 years.
Can I register for one or two days instead of the whole week for March Break Camp?
Unfortunately, we ask families to commit to the full week for our Camp weeks as often our art-making fun requires multiple days to complete (many requiring time to dry before going home or adding final details).
Are campers outside at all?
Weather permitting, our campers are outside every day for breaks and lunch. During this time, camp staff will lead organized games, though campers also have the option to decline and may participate in self-directed play should they choose.
For PA Day and March Break camp, our campers are outside every day for two half-hour breaks in the morning (from 10:15 - 10:45 AM) and afternoon (from 2:30 - 3:00 PM) as well as during their full-hour lunch break (12:00 - 1:00 PM). Campers should bring items to dress for the weather (coat, snow pants, mittens, raincoat, boots, etc).
Do you provide snacks/lunch?
The VAC does not provide snacks or lunch. Parents and guardians are asked to pack a water bottle, two nut-free snacks, and lunch daily, preferably packed in reusable containers.
We make every effort to be as waste free as we can and encourage our campers to be waste free too! Please pack drinks and food in reusable containers. Any uneaten food and any waste material produced will be returned home and is not added to the VAC’s waste collection. This also allows parents and guardians to know what their campers are eating throughout the day. Below are some helpful tips and tricks for a smooth transition into using this method.
Use a lunch bag with an interior that can be wiped or washed clean
Cut fruit and vegetables into pieces so they can be eaten throughout the day if the camper chooses
Use items such as thermoses, reusable water bottles, and plastic containers
Label all the containers so they may be returned if misplaced
What else might my child need to bring?
For the week of camp, please ensure that your child has the following items with them:
A spare change of clothes*
A nut-free lunch and nut-free snacks. During the day, we have 2 snack breaks and 1 lunch break
A water bottle
Close-toed indoor and outdoor shoes (no crocs, sandals, or flip flops)
A sweater incase it gets a little chilly
Items to dress for the weather (coat, snow pants, mittens, raincoat, boots, etc), we are going to play outside weather permitting
Each child’s belongings should be labeled with their name and easily fit into their backpack.
* Be advised that the materials we will be working with may stain or ruin clothing. Please have your child wear clothing that is allowed to get dirty or stained.
No electronic devices are permitted in camp, as we feel their presence deters attention from the fun activities we have programmed. The VAC takes no responsibility for any lost or stolen electronic items.
