Wage: $17.60/hr for 37.5 hrs/wk

The VAC is searching for an energetic and skilled Creative Programs Facilitator to join our team at our 2026 Summer Art Camp. The candidate will play a crucial role in creating a dynamic and supportive environment for campers aged 5-13 through our camp programming. The candidate will have a deep understanding of game and recreation planning, engagement strategies, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and safe environment for all children.

Description of Tasks/Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing engagement activities such as camps, events, public programs, and exhibition-related programs

  • Providing and facilitating camp and program attendance in accordance with health and safety regulations

  • Supervising staff and volunteers 

  • Researching and developing exhibition-related activities to be included in summer camp programming.

  • Work closely with the Education Coordinator, Inclusion Support Leader, and Camp Counsellors to research and implement  strategies for supporting neurodivergent children and/or require additional support needs.

  • Offer guidance and support to volunteers, promoting their professional development in a nurturing and understanding manner.

  • Being involved in day-to-day ongoing programming tasks, including managing materials and other administrative duties 

  • Successfully implementing programs in a safe and organized manner. 

  • Answering questions via phone, email, or in person from members of the public who are looking to enroll in programs

  • Evaluating programs upon completion, providing methods of improvement and feedback used for future program development 

  • Liaising with program participants and documenting feedback 

  • Meeting with and reporting to the Education Coordinator regularly to monitor job performance, expectations, and results.

Candidate Profile:

  • Currently enrolled in recreation planning, Early Childhood Education, Sport and Recreation Management, Sports Science, Bachelor of Education, or a related field.

  • Returning to full-time studies in the Fall.Experience working with children in an educational or camp setting.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with Camp and VAC staff.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Ability to understand educational objectives and lead a team to deliver high-quality experiences.

  • Ability to work all 13 weeks (mandatory).

  • Valid Police Vulnerable Sector Check.

  • First Aid Training and a Valid Driver's License is also an asset.

An individual may be eligible for employment if they:

  • Are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);

  • Are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);

  • Are willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment 

  • Are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and

  • Are a high school, college, CEGEP or university student.

Note: Priority will be given to students who have not previously participated in the YCWHO employment program.
