The VAC 39th Annual Juried Show

Friday, July 19 - Sunday, August 25, 2019
Reception: Friday, July 19, 6 - 8 pm

Every year, the Visual Arts Centre of Clarington programs a juried art exhibition to gain more insight about the work being made in our community and show artworks produced by local artists. We receive many submissions that are examined by professional curators and jurors, who select the works that are exhibited in the gallery and award the works that stand out.

In keeping with this long-standing tradition, the VAC proudly hosts the 39th Annual Juried Show. Four prizes will be handed out this year, three of which will be selected by the juror and announced at the exhibition opening, and a People’s Choice Award, which will be voted on by the public and announced at the end of the exhibition.

Second Place Award: Barbara Buntin
Third Place Award: Norb Lisinski
The People’s Choice Award: To be announced on August 25, 2019

This year’s juror is Elisa Coish, Curator at The Latcham Gallery of Stouffville, where she curates 8 exhibitions of contemporary art annually.  In her former role as Senior Associate Curator of BMO’s corporate art collection, she helped manage a collection of over 7,500 works throughout offices in Canada and internationally.  Elisa has also worked with the Gardiner Ceramic Museum and Malcove Collection at the University of Toronto. In the community, Elisa served two terms as a member of the Exhibition Program Committee at Gallery 44 and as the Artist Prize Curatorial Presenter for the Toronto Friends of the Visual Arts and has also been a juror for the South Simcoe Arts Council and Whitby's Station Gallery. She holds an Honours BA in Art History and Cinema Studies from the University of Toronto.
