BEEN THERE PROJECT

The gardens of the Visual Art Centre of Clarington’s Rotary Centennial Gardens are maintained by young people who come to the site because they are challenged by the law, challenged by their school's discipline codes and in many cases challenged by themselves. They give back by working in this very public place completing community service hours. The project has received ongoing support from the Municipality of Clarington’s Parks Division, The Rotary Club of Bowmanville, through memorial donations and volunteers who assist with the work and leadership.
The work is planned and supervised through a unique project called "Been There" that understands that we as adults have been helped along the way by someone special. This is our goal to help these young people even for a few hours a week, teaching skills that make gardening a recreation for them or even the beginning of some entrepreneurial project of their own.
You can help if you have divisions of plants and used pots. Financial donation are also received. "VAC - Been There Project". If you want to help please bring your things to the site or call 905-987-4384 - leave a message and we can pick it up.
Thanks - Dave Chisling, Director - Been There.
